The 2nd Chutian International Summit Forum on Obesity and Metabolic Diseases

In order to further promote scientific research and practical innovation in the field of obesity and metabolic diseases, and promote international academic exchanges and cooperation, the 2nd Chutian International Obesity and Metabolic Disease Summit Forum on "Building Health Defenses Together and Creating a Better Future" was successfully held on October 24th at the Eighth Hospital of Wuhan. Professor Zhu shaihong, the head of the Obesity and Metabolic Disease Surgical Expert Working Group of the Surgical Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, the chief expert of the Obesity and Metabolic Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center of Wuhan Eighth Hospital, and the first level chief physician, participated in the event.

The conference was supported by Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, Union Hospital affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China-Japan Friendship Hospital, Central South Hospital of Wuhan University. Victor Medical specially invited experts from well-known medical institutions such as Hospital das Clínicas, University of São Paulo, Ribeirão Preto (USP), to discuss the latest research results and future development trends in the field of obesity and metabolic diseases.

    


Surgical Observation


In the morning, 15 experts from Russia, Brazil and other countries gathered in the operating room of Wuhan Eighth Hospital to observe the sleeve gastrectomy performed by Professor Zhu Rihong from Xiangya Third Hospital of Central South University and Director Xiong Fei from the Obesity and Metabolic Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center of Wuhan Eighth Hospital.

International Academic Exchange


At the academic exchange meeting, Professor Zhu Yanghong from Xiangya Third Hospital of Central South University introduced the development history and future trends of metabolic surgery in China, focusing on the methods, indications, advantages and disadvantages of metabolic surgery.

Prof. Sanderson Rodrigo from Hospital das Clínicas, University of São Paulo, presented a roadmap for obese patients in Brazil from initial consultation to surgical selection, introducing the current situation of obesity in Brazil, the process of obese patients undergoing weight loss surgery, and the degree to which surgical procedures are accepted.

Prof. Felipe Mayer from Brazil gave a presentation titled "Sleeve gastrectomy: How we perform it in Latin America", focusing on the current situation of weight loss surgery in Latin America. Through surgical cases, he introduced the treatment effects of weight loss surgery in Brazil.

During the meeting, domestic and foreign experts and scholars conducted a special discussion on the theme of "Different characteristics of obese populations in the East and the West" and "Selection of metabolic surgery methods in the East and the West". They deeply analyzed the impact of key factors such as dietary habits, lifestyle, genetic factors, and socioeconomic status on the incidence of obesity, and further explored the differences in the application of metabolic surgery in the treatment of obesity and metabolic diseases. This not only provides valuable ideas for developing personalized obesity prevention and treatment plans, but also provides useful references for the innovation and development of future surgical methods.
